A New Zodiac Academy Book Is Coming & It Has the Coolest Concept

The cover of On the Cursed Day of Christmas against a Christmas background

Zodiac Academy fans are getting a special Christmas present this year, as there’s a new holiday-themed book headed their way — and it has the coolest concept. Zodiac Academy 10: On the Cursed Day of Christmas is slated for an October 13 release, ensuring readers have plenty of time to pick it up ahead of the holiday season. The themed book will bring readers back into the Twisted Sisters’ fantasy world, but the trip to Solaria will be formatted in a fun way that fully embraces the holiday spirit.

Announced across Caroline Peckham‘s and Susanne Valenti‘s socials, On the Cursed Day of Christmas will be an “advent calendar book experience.” It’s pitched for fans of the main Zodiac Academy series, as well as its Dark Fae spinoff, so we’ll likely see characters from both. The advent calendar-style formatting incentivizes readers to open a new chapter each day. However, it seems the book is telling one “never-before-seen, full-length story.” Per Simon & Schuster, the synopsis is as follows:

Did you think Solaria was out of peril at last? Well, the stars aren’t done with their games yet. And you know how they love to ruin the holidays.

On the Cursed Day of Christmas my true love gave to me…

A box of hexed ornaments to decorate my tree.

Yeah… not what I’d been hoping to find on Christmas Eve, but it’s no problem. So long as the enchanted decorations aren’t broken, the malignant entities trapped inside them by a Vega monarch hundreds of years ago can’t escape, and the whole of Solaria isn’t threatened by their wrath.

It’s going to be a very merry Christmas indeed.

Why do we get the feeling that the enchanted decorations will, indeed, be broken, while malignant entities inside them escape and threaten everything? It sounds like a thrilling holiday adventure, and there’s more to look forward to. The book will also feature artwork on the endpapers and throughout its chapters, as well as “Faebook and Booktok posts.” And its cover is absolutely stunning. It’s the perfect collectible (and gift) for Zodiac Academy fans.

An Advent Calendar-Style Book Is the Perfect Way to Celebrate the Holidays

The new Zodiac Academy book feels like the perfect way to celebrate the holidays and series. In an era of special editions, some of which don’t live up to the hype, it’s a stunning offering. Prompting readers to read one chapter per day also makes this release a great community-builder. If fans follow those instructions — a big ask for us binge-readers — they’ll get to experience the story all at once. It’s surprising more franchises haven’t tried something like this. But if there’s any fan base committed enough to appreciate it, it’s this one. Let the countdown to October begin…
